It was such a privilege to be a very small part of Isaac’s iPad Drive fundraising event. Nelson and Eleanor Anderson (and their son Isaac) wanted to give back to the community that loved them well during a very difficult season in their life. It is a beautiful story of pain, healing, faith, and love.
In April 2014, Isaac was diagnosed with cancer, requiring nothing short of a miracle, talented doctors, nurses, and many family and friends that poured themselves into the lives of the Andersons. And by God’s grace, Isaac is now cancer free.
Turns out that the oncology unit where Isaac stayed so often was originally outfitted by a handful of iPads for the kids to use. Sadly, there weren’t enough iPads to go around. Nelson and Eleanor, along with their friends, came up with the idea to host a silent auction event with the intention of raising awareness, expressing gratitude, and raising funds to purchase 22 iPads (along with cases and tethered locks!) for the 22 rooms on the Child Life Specialists Department at The Johns Hopkins Children’s Cancer.
The event took place at Kurtz’s Beach, which did such an amazing job (and donated/sponsored the event). Along with many other sponsors and volunteers, the event was an absolute success! And one last thing: Please pray for Jonah Spurlin. Jonah, a 3 year old bright-eyed boy, is currently receiving treatment for cancer, giving the Anderson’s an opportunity to shower him and his family with love.
Thanks again to all the sponsors, donors, and volunteers! And a special thanks to Eleanor and Nelson, along with Anderson’s Minuteman Press for their generous giving of time and so many resources! The following is a list of Organization/Corporate Sponsors:
